The perfect work/life balance awaits you on the Channel Islands
The beautiful islands of Jersey and Guernsey have a combined population of approximately 170,000 people, who will offer you a warm welcome and a safe place to live. Don’t let their size fool you though, as both islands boast thriving and innovative business communities, with internationally renowned finance centres and world-class professional services.
Away from the office, these islands are best known for their breathtaking coastlines and award-winning beaches. With stunning scenery and a mild climate, islanders love spending time outdoors. Watersports, cycling, running and hiking are very popular with those who enjoy an active lifestyle. For those who prefer to take life at a slower pace, you can sit back and savour the delicious produce. As the two largest Channel Islands, Jersey and Guernsey have an array of bars and eateries, ranging from quaint beach cafes to traditional pubs and fine dining restaurants.
The benefits of choosing a life in the Bailiwick:
- Jersey and Guernsey boast internationally recognised commercial landscapes, providing opportunities for change professionals to deliver complex and high impact projects.
- Commutes are short on these small islands, making more time for your family and favourite activities, all of which will be on your doorstep.
- You can get to the UK by plane from just 40 minutes or by ferry from 3 hours. You can also enjoy short trips to France and other Channel Islands.
- Neither island levies capital gains tax, wealth or inheritance tax, and income tax is charged at a flat rate of 20%.
- Research suggests that living by the sea can have a positive impact on your mental health and wellbeing, and you’re never far from a beach.
- Crime rates are very low on the Channel Islands and there is a strong community spirit across all islands.
Many of the CBO team have relocated to the Channel Islands, including our Project Management Consultant, Lisa Ayres. She moved to Guernsey and joined CBO in 2023 and quickly embraced her new home…
“My family and I found it pretty easy to settle into island life. I would say that Guernsey is a great place to raise children, with plenty of opportunities for them to get involved in sports and creative activities. Overall, I’ve found Guernsey to be a friendly place and day to day life is generally a bit less stressful than the UK. I’ve also enjoyed being able to cycle to work, something I never did before moving to Guernsey!
I have settled into CBO really easily, the team is diverse in terms of personalities and skill sets, but people work well together and look out for one another. Working life is very flexible at CBO which helps when planning around childcare.”
The Channel Islands are full of challenges, opportunities and stunning beaches, so come and explore them with CBO. Check out our current vacancies here.
