Life as a Junior Consultant at CBO

Wondering what it is like working at CBO?  We caught up with Matt and Jason, to get an understanding of what life is like as a Junior Consultant at CBO:

What Jason says about working for CBO:

Being a Junior Consultant at CBO gives you a steep, but rewarding, learning curve – with an appropriate level of support to achieve your goals.

The piece of work I enjoyed most was implementing a new system that was used for the day-to-day management of a large shop.  Unlike some other work I’ve done previously, this was really tangible with many practical activities, such as reconfiguring the store.

The CBO team are down to earth, welcoming and supportive.  As someone who made a complete career change when joining CBO, I assumed it would take me longer to settle in and feel confident to lead my own projects.  Within 18 months, however, I was running two projects on my own – and felt like part of the family.

During my time as a Junior Consultant, CBO coached me to complete a Project Management qualification, and also supported me in my Masters.

When working for CBO, no two days are the same.  The variety of clients, settings and challenges come together to create a role where problem solving and communication is key.  As an individual, you can add real value for clients, and develop long-lasting relationships.

What our clients say about Jason:

“Jason has worked tirelessly and with great tenacity and enthusiasm… He has been fundamental in the successful delivery of the project and colleagues and suppliers alike have very much enjoyed working with him.”

What Matt had to say about working at CBO

My time as a Junior Consultant has been varied, challenging and engaging.

The most interesting piece of work I’ve done has been helping implement a new app for a client.  I enjoyed it because I could see the immediate benefit it would give them once it was rolled out.  It was also a good test of both my project management and business analyst skills.

The CBO team have been great: they’ve been so welcoming and supportive.  There’s always been someone in the team with the experience and expertise to answer my questions, and they’ve all been very approachable and given the time to help me.

As a Junior Consultant, I gained formal project management and data protection qualifications.  I’ve also had the opportunity to undertake lots of internal training sessions with colleagues.

Working for CBO is very rewarding: you apply your learning to real life situations, and quickly see your hard work pay off in your projects.  The company really values the skills you bring to the role, and takes your progression seriously.  It’s also a close team, which is passionate about what it does.  I would 100% recommend it to others.

What our clients say about Matt:

“Matt has been a terrific addition to our change effort.  Literally ‘parachuted in’ to our Technology portfolio, Matt quickly orientated himself and moved to a position where he could add value across a diverse and complex set of deliveries.  Similarly, it’s been great to see Matt develop as a change professional during this time, establishing himself as part of the broader CBO team.”
