Senior Consultant – Change Manager

Business change delivery specialist at an established management consultancy known for the high quality of its work.

CBO Projects is a leading Channel Islands management consultancy. We are a trusted partner to our clients, known for our quality, reliability, value and flexibility.

At CBO, we specialise in helping organisations deliver effective and sustainable change. A key component to our successful approach is the work of our change management specialists. Their expertise, supported by our proven method, ensures that businesses and individuals are equipped and ready to adopt new ways of working, commit to doing so successfully, and focus on achieving tangible benefit.

As a Senior Consultant at CBO, you will bring your experience in delivering organisational change to bear for our varied portfolio of clients. You will be supported in doing so, both by our collegiate and skilled team, and through our commitment to your professional development.

Within the discipline of change management, a Senior Consultant is responsible for working with clients to ensure that they are ready, willing and able to adopt and sustain major organisational change. This includes:

  • Preparing businesses for change: working to align their operating models and working cultures with desired outcomes.
  • Supporting leaders to drive change: ensuring that they are appropriately and visibly committed, and focussed on key benefits.
  • Developing ownership of the change: ensuring that key individuals and teams across the organisation understand what is changing, and are equipped for success.

As a Senior Consultant, you may also be required to manage business change projects. This can include:

  • Leading on their definition and establishment, so that a clear and deliverable project is formed.
  • Managing all dimensions of their delivery, including plan, issues and risks and budget.
  • Stakeholder management, including liaison with senior stakeholders, engagement with Programme Managers and those leading parallel projects.
  • Leadership of multi-disciplinary project teams.

A Senior Consultant is expected to be able to undertake these responsibilities with a high level of autonomy, including on changes with material levels of complexity, cost, profile or risk.

In this role, you will also be expected to contribute CBO’s efforts to ensure that we continue to provide an excellent quality service to clients, and a top-tier working environment for our colleagues. This includes:

  • Contributing to the maturing of our processes and standards, as an active member of our Change Management and other Communities of Practice.
  • Working with colleagues and clients to develop new projects and opportunities.
  • Being an active participant in industry events – helping CBO be recognised as the ‘go to’ company for projects in the Channel Islands.

Successful candidates:

  • Must have significant experience (5+ years) in delivering organisational change, preferably having worked in or led a business change practice.
  • Would preferably have a formal Change Management qualification, such as the APMG Change Management Practitioner or equivalent.
  • Would preferably have experience of delivering formally constituted projects, and potentially hold an associated qualification.

In addition to this specific experience, we are looking for people with the following broader skills:

  • Mentally acute and fast-learning, with strong analytical skills.
  • Mature and capable of meticulous self-organisation.
  • Self-motivating and confident: happy and capable of working autonomously, often with people holding senior positions.
  • Excellent communicators with strong drafting and presentation skills.
  • High levels of empathy and emotional intelligence.
  • Able to identify client needs for support, and shape this into proposals for work.
  • Effective team-workers, including within multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Works professionally and with integrity, maintaining a clear focus on quality of work delivered, including when working on multiple engagements in parallel.

CBO offers a competitive salary – which is determined by the individual’s level of skills and experience. Salary estimates will be shared with short-listed candidates.

In addition to this, CBO provides:

  • 5% pension contribution;
  • 25 days holiday a year;
  • 5 days allowance for paid charity / community service per year;
  • A commitment to at least £1,500 of training per year;
  • Personalised development pathways for each employee – to ensure that every member of the company has the opportunity to excel and achieve their professional goals.

We provide all of our employees with the highest quality equipment and support, for use in our modern offices in St Peter Port (Guernsey) or St Helier (Jersey), when working on client site, and when working from home. Travel outside of the Channel Islands may be required, but is usually infrequent.

This is a full-time position (37.5 hours per week). We are open, however, to part-time applicants, so long as they are willing to contract to a minimum of 25 hours per week. This is a permanent contract.

We are an employer that values diversity, and encourage applicants from all backgrounds.

CBO is the independent trusted partner in the Channel Islands for organisations embarking on major organisational, regulatory or technological change.
