We are, at the same time, growing.  We’ve expanded from 15 to 25 people over the last two years, and opened our second office, in Jersey, at the start of 2024.  Consequently, we are regularly recruiting and constantly on the lookout for people with the right attitude and skills to join our team.

As our team grows, and their needs and preferences diversify, we continue to introduce new improvements and innovations to how we support our colleagues.  These are captured in our annually refreshed People Strategy, which is informed by our team and encapsulates our commitment to them that our work to provide them with an excellent experience is ongoing, and is never ‘done’.

We are looking for an HR Manager to join CBO, bringing the professional specialism and capacity required to deliver against this commitment fully.  The HR Manager will be responsible for our HR Operations and will support our Chief People Officer in the delivery of our People Strategy.

Ensuring that we have the right resources.  This includes:

  • developing and delivering recruitment campaigns
  • ensuring that new joiners have an effective and smooth onboarding into the company
  • managing the leaver process, enabling us to learn from the experiences of any departing employee.

Supporting the professional development of our team.  This includes:

  • coordinating our ‘Pathway’ process, to ensure that everyone articulates – and can succeed in achieving – annual personal development goals
  • maintaining and enhancing our training standards.

Focussing on our team’s wellbeing.  This includes:

  • ensuring that effective line management arrangements are in place, and being utilised
  • working with the employee, their line manager, and the wider management team, to identify and address individual wellbeing issues
  • supporting the implementation of wider wellbeing initiatives, informed by our Wellbeing Action Plan.

Managing employee relations issues, such as:

  • the application of our performance, disciplinary, grievance and special leave policies
  • ensuring that those policies remain compliant with the laws of each jurisdiction in which we are employing people.

Working with our Chief People Officer, and the wider Management Team, to ensure that we maintain a vibrant, positive and high performing culture.  We know that this requires constant attention and support as we grow and articulate this through our annually-refreshed People Strategy and Action Plan.

A successful candidate must have material experience of working in an operational HR capacity.  This must include experience of managing recruitment campaigns and employee relations issues.  It is preferable that the experience includes work to promote employees’ professional development and wellbeing.

A formal HR qualification is highly preferable, of at least CIPD Associate standard or equivalent.

When starting in the post, you will be part of a team of two, focussed on people management (the other being the Chief People Officer).  You will, therefore, need to be comfortable and keen to work autonomously and independently.

CBO offers a competitive salary – which is determined by the individual’s level of skills and experience.  Salary estimates will be shared with short-listed candidates.

We provide all of our employees with the highest quality equipment and support, for use in our modern offices, when working on client site, and when working from home.  Travel outside of the Channel Islands may be required but is usually infrequent.

This is a permanent contract. We are open to applicants seeking to work part time, at 3 to 4 days per week.  To support a positive work-life balance, we also provide employees with a high level of autonomy and flexibility in the management of working time.
